A Digital Video analysis assessment is an extended physical and biomechanical assessment using video footage to highlight patients’ problems.

The video feed is fed through a PC and using specialized software (Silicon Coach) where we are able to more accurately analyze movement patterns.

It is used predominantly for running and activity related lower limb pain and dysfunction. There is a strong emphasis on movement analysis, posture and identification of muscle imbalance and the affects of these on patients’ complaints.

Assessment includes a standard physiotherapy assessment plus more detailed evaluation of:

  • Digital video recording and analysis of walking and running on a treadmill
  • Muscle and soft tissue length and its affect and relationship to what seen on video
  • Muscle strength and it’s implication on movement patterns
  • Postural type and its influence on running/movement
  • Core stability strength and areas of weakness
  • Assessment of foot mechanics plus any corrective advice or orthotics
