Sports Injuries and Post-op Rehab
The Physio Clinic has gained a reputation for providing a first class service for the treatment of sports injuries and post operative orthopaedic rehabilitation. We have special interests in:
- Ligament reconstruction e.g. Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction of the knee, lateral ankle ligament reconstruction
- Shoulder surgery including subacromial decompression, rotator cuff repairs and shoulder stabilisation procedures
- Arthroscopy (key hole surgery) e.g. menisectomy and cartilage procedures
- Joint replacement – e.g. Uni compartmental or total knee replacement and hip replacements
- Spinal surgery – e.g. Lumbar microdiscectomy or fusion
If you have had recent surgery in the Bristol area, the chances are we know your consultant and they know us. We receive constant referrals and recommendations from Consultants and GP’s, both privately and from the NHS, and stay up to date with the latest rehabilitation protocols.
Lower Back Pain
Back pain is one of the most common conditions referred for Physiotherapy. The team here at The Physio Clinic Bristol has a wealth of experience in the assessment and diagnosis of spinal pain. Following a thorough assessment we can advise you if further investigations are necessary such as an x-ray or MRI scan. However most back pain does not usually require expensive investigations.

Recent guidelines published by NICE (the government’s health watchdog) recommends exercise, manual therapy or acupuncture for non-specific lower back pain. The Physio Clinic is able to offer the wide range of services for the treatment of back pain including Manual therapy, acupuncture, individual and group exercise including Pilates. Running Related Pain
Running related pain is common. The majority of runners will experience some pain that affects them or stops them from running at some point. The range of injuries and conditions that affects runners are numerous. Common complaints are usually knee pain, achilles problems or Plantar Fasciitis. Running can result in pain in other areas too, such as the lower back, neck, or shoulders.
The key to treating running injuries is to understand runners. Of course, a sound understanding of anatomy and physiology is a must too!

Tendon Problems
Tendon problems (tendonitis / tendonopathy) are one of the most common conditions we treat. The cause for the majority of tendon issues is multifactorial, but there is often a key trigger for a flair-up.
At The Physio Clinic we know that careful questioning and assessment is paramount to truly understand the complexities of tendon disorders.
