Arranging treatment via a medical insurance company?
All medical insurance companies require you to call them prior to booking an appointment.
Most companies will have a call centre who will ask you a series of questions about your problem and will try to assit you and direct you to the most appropriate course of action. If physiotherapy is the service you require, or are directed to, inform them that you wish to be treated at our clinic to link it to your case.
It is less common that you need to see your GP before self referring for physiotherapy if you go via the insurance company call centre. However, your policy benefits may be limited. It is worth checking your level of cover at this time and any processes needed for additional treatment.
Once you have contacted your insurance company and they are aware that you are planning on receiving treatment at The Physio Clinic Bristol, they will give you an authorisation code or case number. You will need to bring this information, along with your membership number to your initial appointment.
Failure to provide both a valid membership number and authorization code may result in the patient (you) being liable for payment.
It is the patient’s sole responsibility to ensure continued cover, and to let The Physio Clinic Bristol know if their cover expires.
Do I need to pay up front?
For the majority of medical insurance companies we will invoice them directly, so there is no need for you to pay upfront.
Some policies will have an excess to pay or may only pay a percentage of the costs. Any excess or shortfall in the cover is the responsibility of the patient and payment should be made directly to the Physio Clinic Bristol. In these instances your insurance company will advise you. We will also issue you with an invoice once we have been notified.
How do I claim using a cash back scheme?
You will be asked to pay for the treatment on the day and a full receipt will be provided to enable patients to directly claim back from their insurance company. E.g BAWA, Simply Health
Is everything covered under medical insurance?
Unfortunately not everything or every service is covered by medical insurance policies. We suggest you check with your insurance company before you recieve any treatment, service or product.
In general insurance companies DO NOT cover consumables e.g braces, insoles, tape, Theraband or other small items of equipment. We will always discuss any equipment requirements with you before any purchase is requred. The cost of any equipment is the responsibility of the patient
Most insurance companies DO NOT cover Sports Massage but some “cash back schemes” do. Please check with your provider prior to booking your treatment.
